About Kathy

Working as a green real estate sales representative in Ottawa is truly satisfying. Passion for my work springs from having the opportunity to help people make the greenest choices possible with respect to where they live -- choices that work for them, whatever their circumstances, and that work for the landscape of which they are a part.

A Single Step

As awareness of a broad range of environmental issues continues to grow, many people are looking for ways to live a little greener, to minimize their environmental footprint, and are looking to basics like food, clothing and shelter as obvious and easy places to start. Environmental problems can seem overwhelming, but as the old saying goes, "the longest journey starts with a single step." The good news for people trying to contribute to real and lasting positive changes in how we live on this planet is that there are numerous small steps that can be taken.

Work & Volunteering

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography, and have been fortunate enough to work in many interesting fields: archaeology, computer cartography, musk ox farming, free-lance writing and real estate. Volunteer work is an important part of my life and some organizations I have worked with include school councils, food distribution collectives, an organic farm, and for the Canada Green Building Council's Events and Education Committee. One percent of my net earnings is donated to Ecology Ottawa's Green Building Program.

Sandwich Generation

As a member of the "sandwich generation" -- someone raising children and involved with aging parents -- I have come to appreciate how changing circumstances and desires sometimes suggest changes in location as a positive choice. I welcome the opportunity to work with older clientele who are considering making a change.

Positive Changes

It’s a pleasure for me to see the many positive changes some homeowners are making to reduce their impact on the environment.
